Carp and coarse fishing is available to residents only at
Willowfield Lake. The lake at Willowfield was excavated 18 years ago, and was initially stocked with carp [mirrors and commons], roach and tench. It was the policy to keep only the three species, to avoid inter breeding, and to date this has been successful. Some more mature mirror and common carp where introduced later, together with some crucian carp. The largest recorded carp in 2002 topped 18 lbs, and was one of 4 carp caught during that particular days fishing. This was beaten in 2003 by Mike with his 19lbs+ common carp, and we are pleased to say that Nigel has finally topped the 20lbs mark with his 21lbs common carp caught on the 3rd August 2004 using a Trigga Boilie. Finally last year Paul caught the biggest carp of all at 25lbs, which was a special ending to the 2005 season.
The roach are prolific, and give much enjoyment to the children, especially if it is their first time fishing. The tench have proved to be the most challenging to catch, but the most rewarding when finally landed. They do not allow day-tickets at Willowfield, which ensures that there are always plenty of swims to choose from.
